San Marcos Police Seek Information On Downtown Hit-And-Run Incident

The San Marcos Police Department is asking the public for information about an auto/pedestrian crash that occurred on Saturday, Feb. 9, at 10:29 PM at the intersection of N. LBJ Dr. and Hutchison Street.

Pedro Ybarra, 54, and his daughter, Larissa Ybarra, 23, were struck by a vehicle while crossing the Hutchison crosswalk Saturday night.

Pedro and Larissa were transported to Seton Hays, and Pedro was admitted to the ICU with severe head injuries and “possible permanent brain damage,” officials said.

According to the City of San Marcos, Pedro has been placed in a medically induced coma. His daughter was treated for non-incapacitating injuries and has been released from the hospital.

Witnesses describe a maroon colored 2007-2010 model 4-door Chevrolet Tahoe with possible damage to the driver side bumper fleeing the scene. Witnesses were unable to record a license plate.

According to SMPD, the path of travel of the suspect is north on LBJ Dr, west on Hutchison St, south on Guadalupe St and then west on Hopkins St.

SMPD is requesting any information or witnesses to the incident, specifically any businesses with video of the offender’s vehicle, body shops who completed repairs on matching vehicles for collision-related damages, or any person with information about the suspect to contact police immediately.

Anyone with information regarding the case should contact Detective Travis Davidson at 512.753.2315.
