Shelter update

Shelter staff are in the process of transferring animals seized in the recent animal cruelty case to other organizations.

Two dogs have been reclaimed by their registered owners according to the microchip and supporting vet records.

Animal Investigation and Response continues to provide critical support for the animals housed in an off-site location, as well as assisting with placement options for the animals both in the shelter and those involved in the seizure.

“We want to extend our deepest gratitude to AIR and all our community partners and citizens for the outpouring of support,” said Animal Services Manager Kara Montiel. “This has been a tremendous effort by all. We want to encourage people to be patient as we provide medical treatment and find homes for the animals involved in this case.”

November adoption Specials

The shelter is offering several adoption specials in November:

  • Homes 4 the Holidays Cat Adoption month: $20 cat adoptions
  • Senior Pet Adoption Month: $1 for any animal over 7 years old
  • All dogs and puppies $45

Donations

The shelter is accepting monetary donations for medical treatment of the animals involved in the cruelty case, and donations may be earmarked for the care of a specific animal.

Donations can be made online at http://www.muttstrutt.org/make-a-donation/. Donation receipts should then be emailed to animalservicesinfo@sanmarcostx.gov with the sponsored animal’s name and ID number in the body of the email. The animals’ ID numbers can be found online at www.sanmarcostx.gov/animaladoptions and clicking on “Adoptable Animals.”

If the funds exceed what is needed for treating sponsored animals, the excess funds will be used for medical needs of other animals in the shelter.
