San Marcos Animal Shelter offers adoption specials for Clear the Shelters 2021

The San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter (SMRAS) is participating in KXAN’s annual Clear the Shelters event. Between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 18, the adoption fee for all ready-to-go pets will be $25.

This special includes cats and dogs that have already been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. All adoptions include 30 days of free pet health insurance.

Adoption goody bag

Anyone who adopts a pet during the Clear the Shelters event will receive a sample-size bag of Hill’s Science dry dog or cat food and a goodie bag filled with coupons redeemable throughout Hays County, a keychain, a litter scooper for cats, a measuring cup for pet food, and a dog waste bag dispenser.

Adopters taking home a dog or puppy will also receive a collar, leash, and nametag.

Anyone planning to adopt a cat or kitten is encouraged to bring a carrier for the trip home.

Before attending Clear The Shelters, visit https://bit.ly/2R6SUyt to view a current list of adoptable animals available at SMRAS.

For pets in foster, email animalservicesinfo@sanmarcostx. gov and shelter staff will work to have the pet onsite at the event since this special applies to adoptions that are able to be completed Saturday.

Adoption specials do not apply to pets being evaluated or receiving/pending treatment.

Anyone unable to attend Clear the Shelters can support SMRAS by donating, fostering, and volunteering. Visit https://bit.ly/3mTL4p6 for more information about SMRAS’ programs and services.

SMRAS is open to the public Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from noon to 7 p.m. or Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. The shelter is closed Sunday and Wednesday for thorough cleaning and animal enrichment.
