San Marcos Announces Road Closure For Mill Street Project

The City of San Marcos will close Uhland Road between Lockhart Street and Mill Street to through traffic beginning Monday, May 20, for the installation of storm drain lines.

Traffic will be detoured to Lockhart and 2nd Streets. The detour is anticipated to last two days, weather permitting.

The storm drain work is part of the Mill Street Reconstruction Project that began in November of 2018 and is expected to be completed by the fall of 2019. The project includes:

  • Full-depth reconstruction of Mill Street from the intersection of 1st Street to approximately 1500 feet north. 

 

  • Reconstruction of the Mill Street and Uhland Road intersection, including traffic signals, sidewalks, and bike lanes.

 

  • 8-inch waterline replacement along Mill Street, from 100 feet south to approximately 1500 feet north of Uhland Road.

 

  • Drainage improvements along Mill Street, including curb inlets and channel improvements.

Motorists are reminded to follow detour signs and use caution in and around construction zones.
