A local State Farm agent announced she would be collecting donations of school supplies for students at Mendez Elementary to help prepare them to learn.
Rosie Garcia is asking the community to help gather new pencils, pens, notebooks and backpacks for students, who will start the new school year without their supplies on August 27.
The donations will go toward benefiting hundreds of children in San Marcos at Mendez Elementary.
Garcia is accepting donations of cash or school supplies, which can be dropped off at her office, 2401 Hunter Rd., Suite 500.
