San Marcos Arts Commission Presents ‘Tax Time Chill Pill for Creatives’ Workshop
The San Marcos Arts Commission is pleased to announce their first Working Artist Workshop of 2015 titled “Tax Time Chill Pill for Creatives” to be held Thursday, March 26 from 6-8 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room at the San Marcos Activity Center, 501 E. Hopkins.
The workshop will be presented by Robert “Rex” Schuller, described as the only fire-spinning, stilt-walking, reformed choir boy who’s also a CPA and a Certified Internal Auditor. Rex trains artists, writers, and performers of all stripes and sizes to “hack their thoughts and behaviors” in ways that help them be more profitably creative. In his signature fun-and-fact-filled style, he’ll reveal the easy-to-implement secrets to mastering the great business and tax mysteries of artistic life, including:
- The 5 Biggest Business Mistakes Artists Make and How You Can Avoid Them
- How to Set Up a Goof-Proof Receipt Filing System You’ll Actually Use for Under $15
- Never Again Say “Oops, I Can’t Pay My Taxes” (The Simple Cash Management Method)
- The Little Trick to Knowing off the Top of Your Head If an Expense is Deductible
- When You Can DIY and When You Must Get Professional Help
Those interested in attending should RSVP to Jennifer Mach, Special Events Coordinator, City of San Marcos,
jmach@sanmarcostx.gov by Friday, March 20.
This series of workshops is presented by the San Marcos Arts Commission to give working artists and art/culture focused organizations the tools necessary to be successful. Two additional workshops on “Grant Writing” and “Marketing your Event” will be offered throughout the year.
