San Marcos Business Receives Governor’s Inaugural Award

Locally owned and operated ColorMix Graphics & Printing, LLC and owner Carla Caskey Sisk has received Governor Abbott’s “Inaugural Outstanding Woman Owned Regional Business”

‘We are genuinely honored and humbled to have been chosen for this award,” says ColorMix owner Sisk.  “Sometimes you don’t realize just how much your standard operating procedures are appreciated as outstanding service by your clients,” says Carla.  “Having ColorMix recognized by the Governor’s Office as making “unique and outstanding contributions to the Central Texas Business Community” is just an unexpected honor.

The Governor’s Small Business Award is given annually in various regions across the state to small businesses for their influential impact and leadership in making unique and outstanding contributions to the local business environment. But, this year Governor Abbott added the additional category of Small Business Award for a woman-owned small business in Hays and Caldwell Counties.

“When I moved my business from San Antonio to San Marcos in 2008, I was just taking a leap of faith that I could continue to grow a small printing and graphics business in this much smaller environment.  I soon learned that it isn’t so much the where but the how that business is conducted that brings success,” says Carla.

The ColorMix success story is a challenge to Small Business Owners who have read those immortal words of Thomas Wolfe, “You can’t go home again.”  Sometimes home is “just the right mix” of enthusiastic, innovative young entrepreneurs with roots in the culture of home.

Operating under the motto, “always the right mix,” ColorMix has integrated not only into the San Marcos business community but into the hometown culture of its owner, Carla Sisk.  Embracing the philosophy that no job is too small or too big, ColorMix tackles each job with the intent of always providing just “the right mix” of products for each client to make their event or marketing plan a success.  “We are not order takers,” Carla impresses on her team members.  “We are partners with the client in bringing the most effective result to each project.  We succeed when we help our clients succeed.”

Although ColorMix provides printing, promotional products, and marketing materials to a number of national brands such as Sprint, Gold’s Gym and Under Armour, San Marcos and Hays County customers have learned that they can expect the same quality of product and service from Carla and the ColorMix Team as national brands clients.  The ColorMix Team does not hesitate to donate its talent and skill to promoting and helping fulfill the success of local community events and fundraisers.  The ColorMix team knows the value of “giving back” and volunteering with many non-profit organizations such as CASA, United Way, Family for Life, and several local churches.

Carla, a proud Texas A&M Aggie (Class of ’91), is also heavily involved with the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce, Corridor Platinum BNI, Leadership San Marcos, the West San Marcos4-H Club, Hill County Christian School Boosters Club, the Hays County Republican Party Lincoln-Reagan Dinner, and serves as Precinct Chair for her local precinct.
