San Marcos Calls For Artists As Part Of Mural Series

The City of San Marcos in partnership with Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers is seeking proposals from Central Texas area artists to design and create a mural on the retaining wall located at the restaurant. 

This mural will be an addition to a series of murals created throughout the city.  The murals are located in high visibility areas that have been repeatedly tagged with graffiti.

The goals of this project are to beautify the area and to add to the growing collection of public art. 

The Mural Art Committee, comprised of city staff from the Community Services Division and local artists, expect the project to meet the following objectives:

1. To be colorful and inspiring for visitors. 
2. To be reflective of its surroundings and of the community values.

The artist stipend for this project is $3,700.  Materials for the project will be provided by the City of San Marcos. The application deadline is Monday, July 24, 2017, 5 p.m.
