The San Marcos CISD Child Nutrition Services and all of its campuses announced Friday a change to its policy for serving meals to children served under the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program for the 2019-2020 school year.
Students at San Marcos High School, Goodnight Middle School, Miller Middle School, Rodriguez Elementary, Hernandez Elementary, Travis Elementary, Bowie Elementary, DeZavala Elementary, Crockett Elementary, Mendez Elementary, Bonham PK and Lamar Learning Center will no longer have to apply for the free or reduced-price lunch program anymore.
Schools qualifying to operate the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) provide breakfast and lunch to all children at no charge and eliminate the collection of meal applications for free, reduced-price, and paid student meals.
This new approach reduces burdens for both families and school administrators and helps ensure that students receive nutritious meals.

According to the SMCISD website, “Our district is committed to providing every student with the tools they need to succeed, including nutritious meals they can enjoy. This year, we have been approved for the Community Eligibility Provision, a meal program option offered by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) that allows us to serve school breakfast and lunch at no charge to all enrolled students, regardless of financial circumstances.”
