Our Teachers are our most valuable resources. Congratulations Yvette Cantu!
Yvette Cantu, the Gifted and Talented Facilitator for Travis Elementary, has been chosen as one of 40 David L. Clark National Scholars in the United States and Canada. As such, she will participate in the 35th Annual David L. Clark National Graduate Student Research Seminar in K-12 Educational Administration and Policy Conference in Washington, D.C. in early April 2016.

Cantu is a doctoral candidate in the department of Educational Leadership at Texas State University.

According to Cantu, the seminar will include emerging K-12 educational leadership and policy scholars as well as prominent researchers in the field of education. In addition to presentations and discussions, the conference serves as a unique opportunity for professional development.

The Texas Association for the Gifted and Talented (TAGT) selected Cantu as the 2014 TAGT State Rising Star Teacher of the Gifted Award winner for the state, and she was also one of 12 teachers in the nation who was selected as a Javits-Frasier Scholar, the only teacher from Texas.
