The San Marcos CISD Board of Trustees has approved Denisha Presley as the new principal of San Marcos HS for the 2019-2020 school year.
From 2005 through 2013, Presley served as an assistant principal for six years and teacher for two years at San Marcos HS. The new leader of San Marcos HS will enter her 20th year in education when the school year begins in August of 2019.
Presley is no stranger to San Marcos. In addition to her eight years working in San Marcos CISD, Presley earned both her undergraduate degree in English and master of education degree from Texas State University.
Presley makes her return to San Marcos CISD after spending three years as the principal of Lehman High School in Hays CISD. During her time as principal, Presley oversaw more than 200 employees and a campus of over 2,600 students.
In three years, she was able to develop systems for behavior, infrastructure for Professional Learning Communities, and served on the district’s instructional Leadership Team. Under her leadership, Lehman HS improved their college acceptance rate by 30% and saw an increase in academic success each year.
“I can’t describe how excited I am to return to San Marcos CISD,” Presley said. “Although I’ve maintained various levels of connection for more than 20 years, I am grateful for the opportunity to once again fully immerse and focus my service on that of the students, families, and staff of SMCISD.”
Denisha Presley is married to Mr. Jimmy Presley and together have three children: Camille, Malik, and Kayla.
Current San Marcos HS principal, Dr. Bobbie Turnbo, will be retiring at the end of the 2018-2019 school year.
