This afternoon, the San Marcos City Council will convene for a special meeting to amend the time and locations for early voting and election day for a runoff election.
The runoff will be held on December 8 for the position of Mayor and the remaining one-year of Council Member Place 5’s unexpired term.
According to the agenda, the council adopted an ordinance on Nov. 16 that called the runoff election and set location, dates, and times.
The ordinance states Early Voting hours are from 10 AM to 2 PM, Saturday, Nov. 28, 12 PM to 4 PM on Sunday, Nov. 29, 8 AM to 5 PM on Nov. 30 – Dec. 3, 6 AM until 6 PM on Friday, Dec. 4.
On Monday, the council requested that the hours be extended for Monday thru Thursday hours to 6 PM each day.
The Hays County Elections Administer expressed staffing concerns for the election and stated the Sunday Early Voting date would have to be removed to extend Monday thru Friday hours to 6 PM.
EARLY VOTING LOCATIONS:
SM Housing, First Baptist, and Sinai Pentecostal are unable to serve as EV Locations, according to the agenda.
