The City of San Marcos Convention & Visitor Bureau (SMCVB) brought four Idea Fair Awards home from the Texas Association of Convention and Visitor Bureaus (TACVB) during their annual conference in Denton this month.
The SMCVB won the first place People’s Choice Award and a Judges’ Choice Award for tourism promotion, the first place People’s Choice Award for video, and a second-place People’s Choice Award for advertising.
SMCVB submissions included a pet-friendly marketing campaign which focused on making San Marcos’ furry visitors feel welcome, as well as a video and advertising campaign highlighting San Marcos attractions and events.
“I’m very proud of our team and the work they’ve produced this year,” said Rebecca Ybarra-Ramirez, Convention & Visitor Bureau Director. “We are particularly excited to win two awards for our pet-friendly campaign.”
Judges’ Choice winners are selected by a panel of tourism industry experts. The People’s Choice competition allows tourism industry peers to weigh in on their favorites.
TACVB’s Idea Fair promotes excellence in destination marketing. Goals of the awards are to generate awareness of the quality work done by TACVB members as they promote their destinations to leisure and business travelers.
