The San Marcos Convention and Visitor Bureau received two Idea Fair awards from the Texas Association of Convention and Visitor Bureaus during TACVB’s Annual Conference in Sugar Land this August.
The SMCVB won a People’s Choice Award for their National Travel and Tourism Week campaign. The purpose of the campaign was to create awareness about the importance of the tourism industry in San Marcos.
The SMCVB was also awarded a Judges’ Choice Award for their redesigned advertising campaign. The campaign highlights striking images of San Marcos attractions and uses vibrant colors to encourage travelers to create their own “SMTXperience.”
Judges’ Choice winners are selected by a panel of tourism industry experts. The People’s Choice competition allows tourism industry peers to weigh in on their favorites as well.
“We are thrilled to bring two Idea Fair awards back to San Marcos this year,” said Sarah Smith, social media specialist for the SMCVB. “To have the hard work of our team recognized both by our tourism peers and a panel of experts is really gratifying.”
TACVB’s Idea Fair promotes excellence in destination marketing. Goals of the awards are to generate awareness of the quality work done by TACVB members as they promote their destinations to leisure and business travelers.
“We had a record 75 entries this year,” said Sarah Page, TACVB Chief Operating Officer. “The winners faced stiff competition, and these awards are well-deserved.”
