San Marcos couple makes board game with internet cats

San Marcos, TX — The Original Sasquatch game studio announced their debut board game CATastrophe: A Game of 9 Lives will be available for preorder via the crowdfunding website Kickstarter on May 4th, 2021.

CATastrophe is a 2-6 player family board game as unpredictable as cats themselves and features iconic cats from around the world. CATastrophe: A Game of 9 Lives has players battling it out to be top cat with wild card play and exciting mini-games. Each player starts with 9 lives shown on the colorful cat tower-themed game board, and the last cat standing is the victor!

CATastrophe’s feline guests include some of the internet’s most-followed cat accounts, like Cole and Marmalade (@coleandmarmalade), Molly and Monty Happiness (@monty_happiness), Hosico (@hosico_cat) and many more. Backers have a limited chance to get their own cat included in the game as well. One notable cat inclusion is the tribute to Lil BUB (@iamlibub), who passed away in 2019.

The game is designed by Josh Norris, co-founder of publisher Original Sasquatch. They’ve gathered an experienced team to bring CATastrophe to market, including cat illustrator Jenny Parks (Star Trek Cats book, Marvel National Cat Day Covers) and board game illustrator Jacqui Davis (Ex Libris, Euphoria). CATastrophe’s colorful infographic-style minigames come courtesy of graphic designer Jason Taylor (Unmatched, Fireball Island), and gameplay development is from Brieger Creative (Cartographers, Trekking the World).
