Thursday, the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce hosted a celebration and ribbon cutting to mark the renaming of a local I-35 ramp in San Marcos.
Exit 208 has been renamed to honor local business owner, Chuck Nash, who has been a member of the community and chamber of commerce for forty years.
Chuck, owner of Chuck Nash Automotive, opened his car dealership in 1976, at the age of 25, making him one of the youngest dealership owners in the region.
Since then, Chuck has dedicated over four decades to developing the San Marcos region, local business, and the auto sales industry in Central Texas.
Chuck has previously served as a member of San Marcos Chamber Board of Directors, and currently serves on the Board of the Austin Area Chevy Dealers Association, and the Greater San Marcos Partnership, the economic development organization serving the I-35 Corridor from Austin to San Antonio.
Jason Mock, president and CEO of the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce, and Mayor John Thomaides opened the celebration with a speech each. Mock presented Chuck with a trophy to celebrate his 40 years of service with the chamber and the city.
Other speakers included Chuck and Hays County Commissioner Will Conley.
The ribbon cutting took place beneath the Chuck Nash Loop sign along Southbound I-35. Attendees included one of Nash’s daughters, his two granddaughter, his nephews, his sister and his wife. While one of his girl’s hadn’t been able to make it, Chuck had a cardboard cut out of her for the group picture.
Serving thousands of drivers a day, Chuck Nash Loop will continue to be a gateway to San Marcos.
