San Marcos Reopens Dog Park On Charles Austin Drive

The San Marcos Dog Park, located at 250 Charles Austin Drive, reopened Monday, Nov. 26, after being closed for renovation.

The park closed in August 2018 to undergo a 60-day, $133,276 renovation to install ADA-accessible sidewalks and expand the dog play areas.

The renovation also included the addition of more shade and water fountains to the park.

According to the city, the San Marcos City Council approved the use of Community Development Block Grant funds for the renovation.


Nearly Forty-Year Old San Marcos Business Announces Permanent Closure

Valentino’s Pizza announced its permanent closure Nov. 23 after nearly 40 years of operation in San Marcos.

In an announcement on its Facebook page, the pizzeria’s staff said the owner’s had decided to shut down for good and bid the community and their pizza-family a “fond farewell.”

The Facebook post was overwhelmed with comments from patrons and fans of the restaurant expressing sadness over the closure.
