San Marcos Embassy Suites Gives Young Student Interns A Chance To Learn

Embassy Suites in San Marcos works in conjunction with Gary Job Corps and Texas Workforce Solutions to recruit interns to work in Guest Services and Administrative support.

For over 3 years Elva Zdeb, Embassy Suites HR Director, has set in motion the process of interns with local training and state agencies. Currently interns are active from Texas State University, University of Texas, JC Hays High School, San Marcos High School, Texas Workforce Solutions and Gary Job Corps.

Ted Groholske, Coordinator Texas Workforce Solutions, stated,  “Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area received $244,800 of federal funding that paid 100% of the Summer Earn and Learn Program in the nine counties surrounding Travis County. Hays County youth made up 22% of the youth participants.”

Susanne Ritter, Career Transition Readiness Supervisor Gary Job Corps, “ we have been active with the Embassy Suites in giving our students experience in the working world, many graduates continue on in the hotel business, we are very appreciative with the relationship that we have with Elva, HR Director Embassy Suites, she serves as a great role model for our students in the world of work.”

It is an opportunity for the business owner to reach out and mentor these young people, help them understand what the business world is really like before they get a rude awakening after graduation and to make a positive impact on their futures,” said Jewett.
