(First Saturday of every month at sunrise) Interested in birding hikes? From water fowl to woodpeckers to hawks to songbirds – you never know which feathered friends will be spotted. Hikes are guided by Stephen Ramirez, a local photographer and unicycle enthusiast. Location varies each month and cycles through greenspaces, preserves and riverside parks.

Hays County Historic Courthouse
The Mermaid-a four-minute film crafted in 1904 will be screened and is played repeatedly, each time with live musical accompaniment from different popular films performed by SMART Orchestra.
San Marcos Plaza Park
The 3rd Annual SMTX Pride event is a community way to unite in a positive stance against violence and discrimination towards LGBTQIA. The goal of Pride is to bring awareness of unity, equality, while building a community of support. The event runs 10:00am to 10:00pm at Plaza Park and will feature live music and a parade.

The Meadows Center Glass Bottom Boat, Kayak and SUP Tours
This private evening includes starry night rooftop views, sunset glass bottom boat cruises, live music, dancing, dining, specialty cocktails, live art performances and the crowning of the Society’s first Queen, Shirley Rogers, and her Mermaid Court – all former Aquamaids. The culmination of Mermaid Week SMTX is The Mermaid SPLASH. The San Marcos River serves as the beautiful backdrop to this fun filled FREE festival that has something for all ages. Event starts at 1:00pm and ends at 8:00pm.

Join Wimberley Glassworks as they present a stunning array of glass. Watch the illumination of the Glassworks’ latest art glass installation transition into the night. The event will feature live music and a fine wine tasting from Patio Dolcetto.
San Marcos City Park
The Texas Junior Water Safari represents approximately the first 16 miles of Texas Water Safari course. The finish line for the junior race is the bridge at Staples, the first checkpoint of the longer TWS race. 9:00am start.
The Meadows Center Glass Bottom Boat, Kayak and SUP Tours
This annual sprint Triathlon is one of two opportunities athletes have to open swim in Spring Lake. There are limited slots available. If you wish to watch the race it will start at 8:00am.

San Marcos City Park
Come out and Compete in the 2nd Annual, Santa’s River Race! The race begins at San Marcos City Park, and finishes at Texas State Tubes (in Martindale), and is approximately 7.36 miles downriver. The competitors will face challenges including whitewater rapids, portages, and navigating past other competitors. The race will end at Texas State Tubes where there will be an award ceremony, BBQ, and Live Music. Race starts at 9:00am.
