San Marcos Fire Chief Appointed To One-Call Board Of Texas

“It’s exciting that the Governor has appointed him to this essential board and we are confident that he will be a valuable contributor.”

In mid-December, San Marcos Fire Chief Lester “Les” Stephens received an appointment by Governor Greg Abbott to the One-Call Board of Texas.

The board is made up of seven members with authority over “Call Before You Dig” program that notifies the underground facility operators for excavation plans so so all underground utility lines can be marked to prevent accidents.

“Les continues to go above and beyond to serve our community and lead our exceptional Fire Department team,” said City Manager Bert Lumbreras. “It’s exciting that the Governor has appointed him to this essential board and we are confident that he will be a valuable contributor.”

Chief Stephens’ appointment will last until August 31, 2021.

Additional board members include: William “Bill” Geise, retired, Austin; Joseph Costa, Chief of Police, DeSoto; George Spencer, Associate Vice President for AT&T, Austin; Joseph “Joe” Berry, Director of Damage Prevention at CenterPoint Energy, Pearland; Marcela Navarette, Vice President at El Paso Water Utilities, El Paso; Manish Seth, Partner at ABIP P.C., Missouri City.
