San Marcos Is Home To Texas’s Newest Tubing Route

It’s quieter, has fewer rapids, and is intended for people wanting to stay away from the partying crowds that the San Marcos river can bring around the holidays.

San Marcos has always been known for its natural beauties and recreational opportunities. Topping the reasons of why tourists flock to our city is tubing on the San Marcos River.

Taking frequent comments from floaters about noise and party control into consideration, Texas State Tubes opened a family friendly alternative to their usual route this Summer.

The Scull Bridge float is hoping to make its name as a more serene experience than the route Texas State Tubes has been thriving on since 2011. It’s quieter, has fewer rapids, and is intended for people wanting to stay away from the partying crowds that the San Marcos river can bring around the holidays.

Starting at Texas State Tubes headquarters and ending at Scull Bridge, the float is approximately 2.5 miles long and will take on average 2.5 hours to complete.

Floaters can park at The Scull Road parking lot (3450 Scull Rd. Martindale, TX 78655) where they will then be shuttled by bus to the top of the float. It’s recommended to bring plenty of water and sunscreen and to use the provided trash bags to avoid littering in the river.

Texas State Tubes plans to have the Scull Bridge float open Memorial Day through Labor Day Friday-Sunday from 11:00AM-4:00 PM. With Labor Day approaching, they are optimistic about the potential turnout.

The float isn’t the only thing family friendly; the prices are designed for families too. Along with their standard $18 adult tube rental price, the Scull Bridge float offers an 18 and under price of $16, and 11 and under for $11.

If you don’t have any plans for this holiday weekend go, relax, and enjoy!
