San Marcos Main Street Streamlines Committee Meetings In August

“It is very important to us that we are inclusive in our conversations about Downtown San Marcos,” said Main Street Program Coordinator Josie Falletta.

Main Street is making it their mission to increase community involvement in Downtown San Marcos by consolidating its committee meetings to the second week of each month at 10 a.m. at their office, 317 N. LBJ Dr. starting in August. The meetings will take place Monday through Thursday with a with a designated committee meeting each day.

“It is very important to us that we are inclusive in our conversations about Downtown San Marcos,” said Main Street Program Coordinator Josie Falletta. “Hearing our stakeholders’ input and opinions will lead us closer to creating a Downtown that is truly a place for everyone to connect, create and celebrate.

The four different committee meetings last one hour and offer an opportunity for all downtown stakeholders, including business owners, residents and locals to give their feedback on the state of all things downtown.

The public is invited to attend and participate in whichever committees match their interest.

The individual committee missions and meeting times are:

Organization: With an aim to build partnerships and cooperation among all involved in downtown, the organization committee works to assemble human and financial resources to implement revitalization efforts. Meets the second Monday of the month at 10 a.m.

Economic Vitality: The goals of the economic vitality committee include strengthening downtown’s existing assets while expanding its economic base to meet new opportunities. Meets the second Tuesday of the month at 10 a.m.

Promotion: The promotion committee works to support a positive image of downtown through marketing the district’s unique characteristics to residents, investors, business owners and visitors with a promotional strategy that includes advertising, retail promotions and special events. Meets the second Wednesday of the month at 10 a.m.

Design: Working to enhance the visual and historic qualities and economic viability of downtown, the design committee seeks to preserve the downtown environment, while increasing the capacity for development of the district. Meets the second Thursday of the month at 10 a.m.
