San Marcos is a great place to retire, according to a new article featured in Southern Living magazine’s August edition.
From the crystal-clear waters of the San Marcos River to Kissing Tree, the community designed to welcome 3,000 homeowners aged 55 and above, the article paints a picture of a modern and convenient retirement in San Marcos.
“San Marcos is a unique place that caters to the lifestyles of people of all ages,” said Rebecca Ybarra-Ramirez, Director of Destination Services. “We are excited to see the City’s abundant opportunities for the vibrant and active retired adult receiving recognition in this national magazine.”

They have not been to San Marcos and seen the 'beauty' all fenced in! How awful that the City is doing all it can to restrict the very people who PAY THEIR salaries with tax dollars! DEFUND the CITY STAFF.

Oh and it looks like the Hobos have figured out how to get to the River without being run off by the Rangers. So they may have their own little paradise down there to do whatever.
Don't know how much how much hardcore drug use is going on in that segment (maybe SMPD could fill us in), but I'd be cautious if we are ever allowed to go tubing again.
Ah...but the Council says they're no longer responsible for the parks being closed ....
Indeed. The Council now claims having given the City Manager the decision on re-opening the parks.
