San Marcos Nature Center The Place To Be For Holiday Fun

Posted by Staff | @CorridorNews | @Corridor_Sports

The San Marcos Nature Center will host several fun events for the whole family as the holidays approach.

On Dec. 19, the center will host a Parents Night Out open to children from kindergarten to fifth grade from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Admission is $12 for the first child, $10 each additional sibling. Nature Center staff will keep the kids entertained with holiday crafts and activities while parents get a chance to finish up last minute shopping or attend a holiday party.

Those looking for for a last minute gift or stocking stuffer made by local artists will have their chance on Dec. 20 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., when the Nature Center hosts its Fourth Annual Last Minute Market. People who produce handmade arts and crafts are invited become vendors. Tables are available for $15 in front and $5 in the beautiful wildscape. Vendors may bring their own tables and set up in the wildscape free of charge.

The Nature Center will host a Winter Solstice Celebration Dec. 21, a free event for the whole family, from 1 -3 p.m. featuring activities for the kids, holiday movies on the Nature Center’s 3-D TV, and s’mores! No registration is needed.

On Dec. 29, 30, and 31, the Nature Center will host Holiday Happenings mini-camp from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., a shortened version of their popular summer camps. Nature Center staff will keep the kids busy over winter break with a fun mix of outdoor recreation and nature-based learning activities. Registration fees are $25 per individual day, or $60 for three days. The camp is open to children from kindergarten to fifth grade.

Call Parks and Recreation at 512.393.8400 to register for these events, or call the Nature Center with questions at 512.393.8447.
