The Capital Area Rural Transportation System (CARTS) will celebrate Earth Day 2021 by offering free rides on all services Thursday, Apr. 22, 2021.
Rides on the Interurban Regional Intercity bus services, Metro Connectors, and Municipal Bus services in the City of San Marcos will also be free.
In addition to services available in the City, advance reservation shared van rides in non-urbanized areas of Hays County will be free. Individuals in the CARTS rural service area are encouraged to schedule rides 24 hours in advance by calling 512.478.7433.
Public transportation plays a key role in reducing greenhouse gasses, improving our region’s air quality, and reducing our carbon footprint. The City and CARTS encourages everyone to ride the bus as often as possible to protect the planet.
Passengers are encouraged to practice social distancing by skipping a seat between other riders. Masks are required for all riders.
