San Marcos PD arrest man on multiple charges, including aggravated kidnapping with a deadly weapon

HAYS COUNTY — On Tuesday, May 31, 2022, San Marcos Police Department (SMPD) took Jose Luis Arredondo (DOB 01/24/2000) into custody in San Antonio, Texas, with assistance from San Antonio Police on warrants stemming from two separate incidents.

The first occurred in September 2021, when SMPD was called to an apartment complex on Highway 123 near FM 110. A woman told police her ex-boyfriend, identified as Arredondo, assaulted her in her vehicle and threatened her with a firearm. The woman was able to get out of the car, but Arredondo drove away with the woman’s vehicle which was recovered the next day.

The most recent incident occurred in May 2022, when Arredondo attempted to strike a family member with a broomstick. That family member was able to dodge the attack. When another family member intervened, Arredondo struck that individual with the broomstick multiple times.

Arredondo is currently in the Hays County Jail and faces charges including Aggravated Kidnapping with a Deadly Weapon, Aggravated Robbery, and Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon related to the incidents investigated by the San Marcos Police Department.
