Sierra Martin | Managing Editor

SAN MARCOS – The San Marcos Police Department (SMPD) investigated an aggravated robbery at the Fuego Tortilla Grill off of I-35 on Wednesday afternoon. Police were able to arrest the two suspects after a high-speed pursuit.

According to SMPD, Lyndsey Garza, 29, and Emily Gonzalez, 31, entered the restaurant, fired a weapon, and demanded money before fleeing in a vehicle and leading officers on a chase that reached speeds up to 94 mph.

“The suspects eventually crashed into a concrete barrier on the southbound I-35 access road and tried to run away, but our officers were able to catch them and arrest them without further incident,” SMPD said in a Facebook post. “One patrol vehicle sustained minor damage, but thankfully the incident was resolved without any injuries.”

The weapon and the money stolen from the restaurant were both recovered.

Garza and Gonzalez, both from San Antonio, face several charges, including aggravated robbery, evading arrest, and tampering with evidence.
