A resident called 911 to report a suspicious white truck idling outside of his home around 8 p.m. When police arrived, Peter Raymond Rivera, 47, was found inside the vehicle.
Officers discovered the U.S. Marshal Service had an outstanding warrant for Rivera’s arrest. While Rivera and the officer spoke, a second individual approached the vehicle.
Shawn Jackson, 32, was identified by two witnesses to have placed something in a resident’s trashcan. Officers conducted a search of the trash can and later the truck and discovered methamphetamine.
Jackson and Rivera were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and tampering with evidence. Jackson’s bond was set at a total of $25,000 for both charges; he was released Tuesday from Hays County Jail.
