Additional witnesses also reported gunshots from the area of Hillcrest and Craddock.
Witnesses observed a white passenger car fire rounds at a dark older model BMW in the cul-de-sac of Crest Drive. Witnesses followed the white passenger car until officers caught up to it and conducted a high-risk stop.
Just prior to the high-risk stop, the driver of the white passenger car actually called SMPD to report he was being followed and didn’t know why.
The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was identified as Dillon Snethkamp DOB: 03/01/1999. Dillon admitted to having a handgun in his vehicle but was just leaving a friend’s residence. When confronted with what witnesses observed, he changed his version of events.
Dillon admitted he contacted another male via social media and arranged to meet for the purposes of purchasing marijuana, but during the purchase, the male pulled out a handgun and robbed Dillon of his cash.
The male returned to his older model dark in color BMW and drove away. Dillon followed the male’s vehicle, and when the male had to U-turn at the end of Crest Drive, Dillon fired at least 2 shots at the male’s vehicle as they passed each other.
On-call Detectives were contacted. After investigation, Dillon was arrested and charged with Deadly Conduct, Possession Of Controlled Substance and Unauthorized Carry-Weapon. The driver of the BMW has not contacted SMPD and at this time it is unknown if there are any gunshot victims.
If residents have any information about the second individual, police are asking them to contact the San Marcos Police Non-Emergency Hotline at 512-753-2108.
Dillon is currently being held in jail with a $25,000 bond.
