San Marcos Police Arrest Suspect In February Hardware Store Burglary

San Marcos Police have arrested two men accused of burglarizing a San Marcos hardware store in early February.

On April 19, San Marcos Police Department detectives arrested Daniel De Luna of San Antonio (DOB 4/19/1979) in the 600 Block of Lincolnshire Drive in San Antonio.

De Luna was taken into custody and booked into the Hays County jail on charges of Burglary of a Building.

Several days later, detectives identified the second subject involved in this incident as Jesse Garza Jr. of San Antonio (DOB 2/3/1974). Garza has been incarcerated at the Bexar County Jail since March 1 on an unrelated charge.

On Wednesday, April 25, 2018, detectives obtained an arrest warrant on Garza for Burglary Building.

The burglary occurred on Friday, Feb. 2, at approximately 4 a.m. The suspects forcibly entered  Hofmann’s Supply at 440 S Guadalupe St. by attaching a chain between the front door of the building and a sport utility vehicle, then using the vehicle to rip the doors from the building.

Police say the two suspects stole four welders from the store before escaping. The suspects were caught through the use of surveillance video and various law enforcement databases.

De Luna and Garza are both documented criminal gang members. De Luna is a member of Tango Orejon and Garza is a member of Mexican Mafia.  Both suspects remain jailed, De Luna in Hays County and Garza in Bexar County.
