San Marcos Police Department Investigates Traffic Fatality

San Marcos Police are investigating a single-vehicle accident that occurred on Post Road early Friday morning and resulted in one fatality.

At approximately 12:10 AM on Friday, Sept. 6, 2019, San Marcos Police, Fire, and Hays County EMS were dispatched to the 1800 block of Post Rd for a major collision involving a motorcycle. Responding units located the victim, identified by his Texas Driver’s License as Justin David Malott (07/11/1989).

Malott was pronounced deceased on the scene by Hays County Justice of the Peace Jo Anne Prado.  Next of kin has been notified.

From initial investigations completed by the San Marcos Police Collision Investigation Team, Malott was driving his 2018 Harley Davidson Motorcycle northbound on Post Rd. before leaving the roadway to the right and impacting into a tree. At this time, there is no indication that any other vehicle was involved.

This is the 7th traffic fatality in San Marcos for 2019.
