Officers from the San Marcos Police Department will be serving tables and collecting donations at Texas Roadhouse, 1502 N Interstate 35 Frontage Rd, on Thursday, July 25, from 5 to 9 PM for the annual “Tip-a-Cop” event in support of Special Olympics Texas.
Donations, or “tips,” from the event will be added to the Law Enforcement Torch Run Campaign, the largest grass-roots fundraising campaign benefiting the Special Olympics and will help support athletes in our community.
“We partnered with the San Marcos Police Department for this event’s last year, and we are excited to host it again tomorrow. The Special Olympics is a great organization, and we are eager to exceed what was raised last year,” said Mike Clegg, Managing Partner of Texas Roadhouse – San Marcos.
The Special Olympics is a year-round movement that provides sports training and athletic competitions for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
“The power and spirit of the Special Olympics athletes inspires our officers both in the field and in our personal lives,” said SMPD Chief Chase Stapp. “We are honored to offer our support to this cause each year.”
Texas Roadhouse restaurants across Texas are participating in the fundraising event, including the Austin, Pflugerville, and San Antonio locations. For more information, visit www.sotx.org.
