San Marcos Police & Fire Recover Body In The Blanco River

The San Marcos Police and Fire Department recovered the body of a female yesterday evening from the Blanco River.

The deceased has been preliminarily identified as 21-year-old Kate Rose Silva Xavier, a Texas State University student who had been missing since October 25.

At approximately 5:30 p.m. on Friday, November 2, the San Marcos Police Department received a call from a concerned hiker reporting a possible deceased person in the Blanco River near the 1400 block of River Road.

The San Marcos Fire Department also responded to assist police in recovering the body which was confirmed to be deceased. Ms. Xavier’s next of kin has been notified and the death is being investigated as a suicide. The investigation is ongoing.
