SAN MARCOS — A major accident between a Texas State University bus and multiple vehicles occurred this evening at the intersection of Charles Austin Drive and Aquarena Springs Drive near Strahan Arena.

According to a city official, two occupants from one vehicle sustained severe injuries and were both transported to Seton Hays Hospital in Kyle. No injuries were reported on the bus and occupants from the other two vehicles involved sustained minor injuries.

Witnesses on the scene say a black car hit the back of the bus at high speed, causing an explosion and plume of black smoke. The black vehicle then spun into another car. 12 students were reported to have been on the bus at the time of the accident.

The San Marcos Police Department (SMPD) and San Marcos Fire Department (SMFD) responded to the scene. Officials are unable to disclose any additional information at this time.

As of 5:56 p.m. on Friday, April 29, SMPD anticipates being on the scene for another three hours while collecting evidence.

This is an ongoing investigation, Corridor News will provide updates as they become available.

  • SMPD needs to do something to combat reckless driving. This, stopping on train tracks, and generally unsafe/inconsiderate driving is a major problem. I see it all the time. This pair will be fortunate to have learned a painful lesson. Ten seconds ain't worth anyone's life.

    • No one’s learning a “painful lesson” here because my brother had a seizure while behind the wheel and passed away from the accident. Maybe don’t be so quick to assume.

      • I’m so sorry for your loss, may god help your family heal that awful pain.. our prayers to y’all’s family.. if possible I would love to help out your family. ??

      • We were there at Hays when yall were. I just want you and yours to know you have been in our thoughts and prayers since that night. I cannot imagine the grief you carry.
I wish i could have done more than offer tissues and a handful of words. I meant what i said in the parking lot. Yall are in our prayers still.
We will light a candle for your brother.

      • My Condolences to you and family . Prayers to his girlfriend and baby. Rip to your brother.

  • Well that's unfortunate. Sorry for your loss. But, that doesn't change the fact that reckless driving is a major issue. This happened on the last day of formal for many TXST students. With graduation week coming up, someone is going to make an extremely poor choice. Blacked-out Dodge Charger is right in line.

And you want $50K for a funeral? Come on. Trouble on trouble. Something bad was bound to happen. This needs to be a lesson.

  • Just so everyone is aware there are scammers out here causing accidents in the city of SanMarcos for insurance frauds and multiple people are involved in these situations! Please drive safe everyone !! And watch others on the road! I’m not saying this article is related I just want to cause awareness!!!

  • It’s sad to see these comments because this one person doesn’t know how it feels to get someone token away and yes I did know Addison he was my brothers best friend and we are all so so sorry for your loss

    • So how many teens have died from Fentanyl overdose in the last few weeks? My question was justfied.

      • What does this question have to do with this article? Not a damn thing. You don't know this family, you don't know the circumstances. So go peddle your shit elsewhere. This was my grandson. It's been 1 year since the accident and it feels like yesterday. It's a pain that never goes away. Quit being so quick to judge others. Your day will come.
