Friends of the Library Booksale
Location: City Park Rec Hall
Friday, April 7- Sunday, April 9
The Friends of the Library will hold their Spring Book Sale at the City Park Rec Hall at 170 Charles Austin Dr. On Friday, paperback books are $1 and hardcover books are $2.
Saturday prices are 50¢ for paperbacks and $1 for hardbacks. On Sunday, you can take home a whole bag of books for just $5!
Yarn in the Community
Location: San Marcos Public Library
The library invites all fiber folks to enjoy sewing, knitting, or crocheting in good company. Bring your own materials and anything you are currently working on. Judy Uzzell will show participants how to crochet Knitted Knockers to donate to knittedknockers.org – a charity for breast cancer survivors.
Materials for Knitted Knocker projects will be provided.
Maker Play With Texas State University
Location: San Marcos Public Library
Children ages 7 to 12 are invited to the library to explore technology and bring imagination to life with hands-on projects from the Texas State University MAKE Lab!
Participants will learn about 3D printing and 2D computer fabrication, and try their hands at 3D computer-aided modeling, coding, and simple electronics. The event is free, but registration is required. You can register by phone at 512.393.8200 or online at sanmarcostx.gov/libraryregistration.
Designed as an educational makerspace, The MAKE Lab supports College of Education students in exploring the use of inexpensive technologies to facilitate brainstorming, tinkering, learning, and art creation.
Additionally serving as a mobile makerspace, The MAKE Lab is brought to various locations throughout the San Marcos area to support community engagement with hands-on activities and workshops using design-based technologies. The MAKE Lab challenges makers of all ages to proceed with curiosity and MAKE something awesome!
