Saturday, April 4—AARP volunteers will assist persons with disabilities as well as low-income and elderly people file their income tax returns at the San Marcos Public Library from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Taxpayers using this free, walk-in service should bring with them a copy of last year’s income tax return, a social security card for themselves and dependents, a photo ID, and any other tax-related information. Those who prefer to file electronically should bring with them a check or a letter from their bank including bank routing and account numbers. Service is guaranteed to the first 50 people who arrive and sign in by 12:30 p.m.

This is a great resource for those getting their GEDs, returning to college, or applying for jobs. Call the library at 512.393.8200 to schedule an appointment between 2:00 and 6:00 p.m. on Sundays.

Friends of the Library Used Book Sale
Friday, April 10 to Sunday, April 12—Don’t miss your chance for the best deals in town on gently used books! The Friends of the San Marcos Public Library will hold their giant semi-annual book sale at City Park Rec Hall. On Friday the sale is open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. with hardbacks for $2.00 and paperbacks for $1.00. On Saturday the sale is open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with hardbacks for $1.00 and paperbacks for .50 cents. On Sunday the sale starts at 1:00 p.m., and shoppers can take a whole bagful of books for just $5.00. All proceeds from the sale benefit the library. Tuesday, April 14—Register for free GED test preparation courses with Community Action, Inc. at the San Marcos Public Library at 1:30 or 6:30 p.m. Registrants must return for part two on Thursday, April 16 at 1:30 or 6:30 p.m.

Wild Texas Teas
Thursday, April 30—Join us at 7:00 p.m. at the San Marcos Public Library to learn about brewing nourishing herbal infusions using Texas botanicals with community herbalist Emily Bradford. Enjoy a tea tasting and take home recipes for tea blends you can grow in your spring and summer garden. Bradford is an instructor at the Wildflower School of Botanical Medicine.
