San Marcos P&Z To Consider CUP For ‘Tiny Cantina,’ More

Staff Reports

The San Marcos Planning and Zoning Commission will consider a conditional use permit for Tiny Cantina at the San Marcos Premium outlets.

The property is in a standalone structure located within the plaza at the outlets and is an outdoor gathering area with fixed seating, pergolas, pedestrian bridges and open lawn seating areas.

The proposed location was recently occupied by Twisted Cork Wine Bar. According to the agenda, the applicant is proposing to serve a variety of craft beers, wine and wine-based margaritas and cocktails.

As permitted by TABC, customers will be able to consume their beverages at the bar or anywhere within the San Marcos Outlets site.

The applicant is not proposing any live music and entertainment facilities include two television sets and speakers used for ambient music. The proposed hours of operation are from 12 PM to 10 PM every day of the week.

City Staff is recommending approval of the request with the following conditions:

  1. The permit shall be valid for one (1) year, provided standards are met.
  2. The permit shall be effective upon the issuance of a Certificate of Occupancy.
  3. The permit shall be posted in the same area and manner as the Certificate of Occupancy.

In other news, the commission will also consider a request by Robert W. McDonald for a zoning change from community commercial to Heavy Commercial for approximately 15.23 acres out of the Blanco Riverwalk Subdivision.

According to the agenda, the purpose of this zoning change to “Heavy Commercial” is to allow for the development of an outdoor storage facility.

The San Marcos Planning and Zoning Commission will convene virtually at 6:00 PM. For viewing or public comment information, see the agenda below.
