San Marcos ranked as the most affordable city in the Austin Metro Area

The Zumper Austin Metro Area Report analyzed active listings in July 2021 across 5 metro cities to show the most and least expensive cities and cities with the fastest-growing rents. The Texas one-bedroom median rent was $1,019 last month.

The Most Expensive

  • Austin was the most expensive city with one bedrooms priced at $1,300.
  • Cedar Park ranked as the second priciest with rent at $1,220.
  • Georgetown followed closely behind as third with rent at $1,180.

The Least Expensive

  • San Marcos ranked as the most affordable city with one bedrooms priced at $930.
  • Round Rock was second with rent at $1,170.

The Fastest Growing (Y/Y%)

  • Round Rock had the fastest growing rent, up 12.5% since this time last year.
  • Cedar Park was second with rent climbing 5.2%.
  • San Marcos ranked as third with rent increasing 4.5%.

The Fastest Growing (M/M%)

  • Round Rock had the largest monthly rental growth rate, up 5.4%.
  • Cedar Park was second with rent climbing 5.2% last month.
  • Austin ranked as third with rent increasing 4.8%.
