San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter Pets Of The Week

Meet Magpie

This week’s dog of the week is magpie, a two-year-old who has been spayed and is heartworm negative.

Magpie is a very friendly, well-behaved dog who loves to run and play. She does tricks for treats, and seems easy to train. Magpie is very strong, so she would be great for a family that can keep up with her if she pulls on her leash. Her demeanor makes her a great family dog.

Meet Summer

This week’s cat of the week is Summer, a one-year-old female black and tortoiseshell who is spayed.

Summer is a gorgeous cat with an amazing personality to match. She’s very friendly and will let you pick her up. She gets restless if she isn’t played with for a long time, but will forgive you if you give her some affection!

Both pets are available for adoption. Their $90 fee covers spay or neuter procedures, rabies vaccine, microchip and city license.

To learn more about adoption and apply to meet our pets, visit the San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter adoption office at 750 River Road, open from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and from 11:30 am to 4:30 p.m. on Saturdays. Or, visit us online at, or fill out an online application at www.sanmarcostx.gov/animaladoptions.
