CARTS Interurban and Local San Marcos “The Bus” transit service will be on a modified holiday schedule starting Monday, Dec. 14.
The last day for the extended service schedule for the 1517 Interurban is Friday, Dec. 11, and service for the 1517 route will not be available from Monday, Dec. 14 to Friday, Jan. 1 due to the holidays.
San Marcos customers can board the 1510 Interurban bus to connect to Austin during the 1517 Interurban suspension.
The 1517 Interurban route will run on a modified schedule Monday, Jan. 4 through Friday, Jan. 15, and will tentatively return to an extended service schedule on Tuesday, Jan. 19.
Local San Marcos “The Bus” routes and paratransit will operate from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 24 and 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec.31.
Transit routes will be closed for service on Friday, Dec. 25, Friday, Jan. 1, and Monday, Jan. 18 in observance of the Christmas, New Year and Martin Luther King, Jr. holidays.
Riders may purchase interurban daily and monthly passes on the HopThru App which is available through free download at the Apple and Google app stores.
Passes are also available for purchase at Plaza Saltillo, 412 Comal St., Austin, Texas, or at the San Marcos Station, 338 S. Guadalupe St, San Marcos, Texas.
Drivers will not sell tickets in person or during routes, and seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Due to public health concerns, seating limitations will be enforced, passengers on all routes are required to properly wear face coverings, and everyone is encouraged to practice social distancing.
Local San Marcos “The Bus” route will continue to be fare-free until further notice.
