After 16 years of dedicated service in San Marcos, Assistant City Manager Steve Parker has accepted the position of City Manager for the City of Seguin.
“When you have exceptional people on your executive team, it’s rewarding and bittersweet to see them move forward in their career,” said City Manager Bert Lumbreras. “Steve has been an integral part of the success of San Marcos and he will continue to provide his leadership, insight and depth of experience as he leads his team in Seguin. We’re excited to be able to continue to work with him on regional initiatives.”
Parker has served in this capacity since 2012 and has worked at the City for 16 years total.
Prior to becoming Assistant City Manager, he served as Assistant Director of Finance and was promoted to Director of Finance in 2008.
Parker earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Texas State University. He is a member of the Government Finance Officers Association of Texas, the International City/County Management Association, Texas City Management Association and served on the Alliance Regional Water Authority Board of Directors.
Parker was chosen as Seguin’s next top administrator after a five-month search process that garnered nearly 40 applicants. The search began following the announcement of the January 2020 retirement of City Manager Doug Faseler.
Parker will continue his service in San Marcos until Jan. 3, 2020 and will assume his duties as City Manager in Seguin on Jan. 6, 2020.
