The City of San Marcos will host a Community Development Block Grant applicant workshop Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at 2 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room of the San Marcos Activity Center, 501 E Hopkins Street.

The workshop will cover details of the application process, eligibility and compliance requirements, and will provide a general overview of the CDBG Grant Program.

Attendance is not mandatory for filing an application, but it is recommended. Assistance will be available for Spanish-speaking persons with limited English proficiency.

The City also invites all persons interested in learning more about the City’s CDBG program to attend a Stakeholder Workshop on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 beginning at 6 p.m. The workshop will be held in the Multi-Purpose Room of the San Marcos Activity Center, 501 E Hopkins Street, San Marcos, Texas.

The workshop will provide an overview of the CDBG grant program and will explain the annual application process. Participants will have an opportunity to ask questions and to complete a short community needs survey regarding the use of CDBG funding in the next program year. All comments received and survey results will be provided to the City Council and will be summarized in the City’s 2018 Action Plan.

The Activity Center is accessible to people with disabilities.

Applications

The City of San Marcos is accepting applications for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program funding now through 5 p.m. April 6, 2018. These funds are provided to the City from the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for projects that benefit low-to-moderate income San Marcos residents. Applications may be submitted by non-profit organizations and City departments; the City is not accepting applications from individuals who need personal housing or other financial assistance.

Eligible projects must satisfy a national CDBG program objective and address one or more of the priority needs of housing, transportation, infrastructure improvements, public facilities, public services (programs), or the elimination or clearance of areas of spot blight.
