San Marcos To Hold Inaugural SMTX Hometown Holiday Shoebox Parade

The City of San Marcos will be hosting the inaugural SMTX Hometown Holiday Shoebox Parade on Thursday, Nov. 26 online at 2 p.m. on SMTX Community Services Facebook Page, Downtown San Marcos Facebook Page, City of San Marcos YouTube channel, and on the City’s cable channels on Spectrum (Channel 10) and Grande Communications (Channel 123-16).

The parade is dedicated to promoting community engagement, holiday spirit, and shopping local in the city of San Marcos. There are over 30 entries in this year’s parade.

Along with the virtual parade, there will be an I-Spy Scavenger Hunt. There are two options available to access the I-Spy Scavenger Hunt gameboard:

  • Download a digital copy at www.sanmarcostx.gov/shoebox to complete while watching the parade or print it.
  • Pick up a paper copy from the Parks and Recreation Office, 401 E. Hopkins. Gameboards will be located in a brochure rack outside in front of the main entrance.

After watching the parade, scavenger hunt participants can submit their completed gameboards by emailing a photo to jmach@sanmarcostx.gov by 9 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 29.

Submissions will be entered into a drawing for City of San Marcos swag bags. One adult and one youth winner will be drawn randomly from the submissions.
