The City of San Marcos will celebrate the completion of the Craddock Avenue median project with a ribbon cutting Saturday, Aug. 18 from 9-10 a.m. at the intersection of Craddock Avenue and Archie Street.
The event was postponed from Aug. 4 because last month’s heavy rains delayed completion of the project.
The public is invited to attend the event featuring tours of the newly landscaped medians, a brief program, and refreshments. There will also be a children’s activity area located away from the street.
Project
Construction began on Craddock in March 2018 and includes more than 23,000 square feet of native plantings and decorative stonework within the medians at a cost of almost $275,000 from the Community Enhancement Fund.
The initiative to redesign the medians was launched Sept. 14, 2016 with funds from the Community Enhancement Fee being allocated for three years to finance the project.
The project was designed by Mask Landscape Architecture and constructed by Maldonado Nursery & Landscaping, Inc.
Adopt-a-Spot
Four areas of the median are available for adoption by individuals, businesses or organizations through the City’s Adopt-a-Spot program.
