San Marcos To Reopen Activity Center In March With COVID Protocols

The City of San Marcos will reopen the Activity Center to the public on Monday, March 1, with COVID safety protocols.

The Activity Center gym, pool, and other recreation rooms will reopen on the same modified schedule as was used in late 2020.

Patrons will be admitted at 25% capacity within each area of the facility. Hours of operation include:

  • Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday open 6 AM to 7 PM with a one-hour closure from 1 PM to 2 PM for sanitizing and cleaning
  • Saturday open 10 AM to 5 PM with a one-hour closure from 1 PM to 2 PM for sanitizing and cleaning
  • Closed Thursdays

Reservations are required for ALL activity center visitors and will be made in one-hour time slots. Residents may reserve each area one time per day and you may reserve multiple areas on the same day.

For example, a visitor could make the following reservations: 7 to 8 AM: Cardio Room 1; 8 to 9 AM: Gymnasium for open play basketball; 9 to 10 AM: Weight Room.

If residents are unable to make their scheduled time, please cancel the reservation so that others may have access to that time slot.

Visitors to the Activity Center should wear a mask, wash their hands upon arrival, maintain a social distance of 6 feet from other attendees, and use the designated floor markers for check-in.

To learn more about the guidelines and visiting the Activity Center, please visit www.sanmarcostx.gov/activitycenter.

Since COVID testing facilities have reopened after last week’s winter weather event, a decision about reopening the remainder of City facilities to the public will be made on Monday, March 1, following receipt of this week’s Hays County COVID data.
