San Marcos to start Uhland Road improvements project

Beginning Monday, Mar. 15, the Engineering & Capital Improvements Department will begin construction on the Uhland Road Improvement Project. Work is expected to be complete by late 2022, weather permitting.

The project will correct drainage issues along County Road, Uhland Road, and parts of River Road. Planned improvements include:

  • Full-depth reconstruction of County Road and Uhland Road between Interstate 35 and approximately 200 feet south of the Aquarena Springs Drive intersection
  • Widening of Uhland Road to meet current standards
  • Installation of a stormwater drainage system along County Road and Uhland Road, including a new outfall to the Blanco River
  • Sidewalk extension along Uhland Road from the Interstate 35 Frontage Road to Aquarena Springs Drive
  • Upgrade of existing bus stops and addition of a third stop within project limits
  • Improvements to water and wastewater system
  • Roundabout construction to improve safety at the intersection at Uhland Road and River Road

Detours will be in place for drivers in phases throughout construction. A detour will also affect “The Bus” route three and will result in the temporary closure of three stops, beginning at the start of the project. Route three will continue down Aquarena Springs Drive and turn around at the River Oaks Villas Apartments, then head back to the station on the original route.

Disaster recovery funds received from the Housing and Urban Development Community Development Block Grant in response to the 2015 floods will contribute $7.2 million dollars to the $8.3 million dollar project.

The City will contribute the remaining $1.1 million in costs. The City contracted with Patin Construction, LLC, of Taylor, TX., to complete the construction work. For more information on this project contact the Engineering & Capital Improvements Department at 512.393.8130 or visit www.sanmarcostx.gov/Uhland-Road-Improvements.

  • I just love how the city keeps sneaking in roundabouts. Maybe this is a great place for one, maybe it is not. Laurie Moyer just refuses to have an open conversation each time POOF one comes up. First I've seen of a roundabout. Regardless if you think they are the greatest thing since sliced bread or a dangerous new urbanism "traffic control measure" at least city staff can have an open dialogue about it. In the past the city has ignored petitions from residents in various portions of the community, Since there is zippo accountability up there they will just do what they want. Repeatedly.

  • I believe the number was fewer than 4,000 hospitalizations in Texas, with a total population of 28,000,000. I think Jack Riccardi said it was the lowest level since October. And the overwhelming majority of cases recover.

It is such a non-threat that Golds Gym feels it is time to fully reopen without restrictions. Texas State is in an even better position because it has sovereign immunity. Yet, Denise Trauth actively chooses to punt her responsibilities. Denise Trauth is willing to sacrifice student health to avoid faculty pushback.

That is chicken-s*** leadership. She's just cashing those $40,000 monthly checks and avoiding the hassle of actual responsibility.

  • Anyone know if JMA is a happy drunk or a mean drunk? Ill take a Mayor drunk off his keister on whatever JMA drinks on zoom over Jane, who is drunk with power. 30 years of activism Ive never seen such quashing of free speech. Jane thinks we live under her dictatorship. Jane can’t stand to be wrong. Jane nit picks at everything EVERYONE says. She manipulates statements of even her colleagues. And, embarrasses herself when they use her own idiomatic logic against her. EVERY week, pretty much EVERY speech Jane will interrupt me, shuffle the speaker order, feel the need to comment on my speeches, or correct my advocacy. She has changed the times of public hearings, now she has shifted the order. The “for” speakers used to speak first, and the “opposed” speakers used to speak second. Why? So the public can hear the advocacy of the developer and respond. Jane has switched this long standing best practice. She forced me to speak out of order last night and started the time, knowing she was wrong. I sure to miss Mayor JT and Mayor Daniel. AT this point: The Empress Wears No Clothes: City Voters Mayoral Choices Drunk on Booze or Drunk on Power. Ill take the happy drunk JMA at this point.
