The City of San Marcos’ Risk Management Team received a Texas Public Risk Management Association (PRIMA) Achievement Award during the organization’s annual conference on Nov. 11.
The award recognized the City’s robust safety, security, and emergency response program.
The interdepartmental Security Team includes an Assistant Police Chief, Assistant Fire Chief, Police Commander, IT staff members, Emergency Management Coordinator, Director of General Services and the Risk Manager.
The City has implemented multiple improvements to employee safety and training such as creating employee access badges, installing additional security cameras, adding additional panic buttons, and offering classes such as Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) training, Stop the Bleed, Emergency Response, and First Aid & CPR/AED training.
“We want to give our employees peace of mind while at work.” said Risk Manager Cindy Conyers. “Our Security Team has been a powerful force for identifying and addressing security needs within the City. I couldn’t be more thrilled to see our hard work acknowledged and celebrated.”
The award also credits the City’s response program, which includes Risk Management staff and Safety Coaches who ensure staff preparedness for a variety of emergency situations.
