San Marcos, TX – The Price Center’s next San Mercado is set to take place on Saturday, Oct. 12, from 9 AM – 4 PM in the Garden and throughout the various indoor venues of the Price Center.
The Market features an eclectic mix of local vendors – new and returning — selling everything from fresh pies to plants, handmade goods, collectibles, beautiful new holiday quilts, and small retail products, to activities like new art shows, music, refreshments, and a selfie photo-booth with fun Mercado-themed props.
In addition to several new vendors, Bee Friends, a quilting bee that creates at the Center several times a month, is raising funds to help underwrite their charity work via a series of Holiday-themed runners, panels, and full-sized wall hanging quilt based on their very popular group effort titled “Festive Forest” from 2010 featuring Christmas trees.
The truly unique pieces will be available to purchase starting at $25. New artworks from SMCISD’s grades K-12, including Mendez, Crocket, Miller and SMHS, will also be on display in the historic 1893 Room.
Admission to San Mercado is free and open to all. New Vendors are always welcome. Indoor Booths are $30; Outdoor are $20. The monthly market is made possible in part through grant funds from the San Marcos Arts Commission. Proceeds from booth rentals benefit the Price Center, which is operated by the Greater San Marcos Area Seniors Association (GSMASA), a 501 (c) 3 non-profit.
San Mercado is part of the new day-long second Saturday Downtown Walkabout featuring a free, family-friendly line-up of activities taking place downtown throughout the day once a month.
Walkabout activities this month will also include Farmers Market from 9-1 and Art Squared from 9-4. Live music, art demonstrations and shows, and a variety of downtown merchants and eateries specials keep things rolling throughout downtown into the evening.
For more information about San Mercado, including reserving booth space, please call 512-392-2900, stop by the Center at 222 W. San Antonio St. Mon. – Fri., 9 to 5 PM, or visit price-center.org.
