San Mercado To Return To The Price Center

San Marcos, TX – San Marcos’ only downtown, monthly, community market – the Price Center’s San Mercado – is returning after a long COVID-inspired hiatus this Saturday, Sept. 12.

The monthly market will run from 9 AM to 2 PM in conjunction with the San Marcos Farmers Market (9 to 1) and the San Marco Art League’s Art Squared (9 to 4), which both take place on the Historic Courthouse Square, a short walk from the Center.

Each event will feature live musical entertainment and COVID-safe precautions, including required mask-wearing by all vendors and shoppers, outdoor vendors, spaced safely apart, and controlled access to indoor spaces.

Participating San Mercado vendors will be set up in the Price Center’s Garden from 9 AM to 2 PM, live music featuring the vocal and acoustic guitar stylings of Gary Taylor will be performed from the front porch overlooking the Garden from 11 AM to 2 PM, and shoppers will also have indoor access to the Center’s SHOP 1893, a unique resale shopping experience benefiting the Price Center.

Regulars of the Center will remember Gary’s relaxed and engaging style from previous performances, including several with his late wife and performance partner Donna.

Admission to San Mercado is free and open to all. Mask wearing and other COVID-safe practices will be enforced. A limited number of outdoor vendor spaces are available for a $20 fee.

The monthly market is made possible in part through grant funds from the San Marcos Arts Commission.

Proceeds from booth rentals benefit the Price Center, which is operated by the Greater San Marcos Area Seniors Association (GSMASA), a 501 (c) 3 non-profit.

For more information, including reserving booth space, please call 512-392-2900 (weekdays 10-3).
