A Japanese tech site, Macotakara, has released that the new iPhone 7 will be 1mm thinner than its predecessor, the iPhone 6s. With the new change to depth, the iPhone should be 6.1mm from the previous 7.1mm. There’s a recent claim that other dimensions and materials of the new device will remain the same, making it visually similar to the 6s. (It will maintain the same metal design, height and width.)
Will the headphone jack actually be removed?
In order to create the slimness of the device, the 3.5mm headphone jack will be removed. This will require you to use stereo headphones that wirelessly use the internal battery to draw power.
The iPhone 7 will also be the first iPhone to adapt a stereo unit, replacing the mono speaker in previous models; this will definitely add a better and more powerful sound quality.
Also changing with the device is a thinner lightning port to adapt to the new look, and a dual-lens camera might be added to integrate seamlessly with the new sleek look. The camera bump will also be aligned with the device’s casing.
Can I trust that the device will be waterproof?
Rumors on the new model being waterproof have been put to rest. It’s been said the device won’t be able to be submerged into liquid, but it will be merely drip-proof. The unveiling should be around September with the availability being shortly after.
